About Me

Ever since I was a young teenager, I have written stories, and when I wasn’t doing that, I was researching topics in history that interested me. Writing was a passion. No, more than that. A necessity. I do not know where it came from. Such things did not occur in my family. I had a need, a desire, to get my voice, which I had yet to understand, out into the world. But my family and life had other plans.

I grew up during the Troubles. Ambition was in short supply; that was why so many young adults left the province. At the end of high school, I entered the working world, and my children soon followed. All my dreams were shelved, even though I still wrote when I could.

In the past, I have authored articles for various magazines connected with jobs that I held when I worked as a historical researcher and served in the military. I also self-published two fantasy novels. The first was a paperback with an American publisher. I got completely ripped off; they lied about everything, and it tore my soul apart. For some years, I stopped writing. The second novel was an eBook, which was an enjoyable experience, but I withdrew after some months, thinking I might get a book contract. It didn’t happen.

In 2018, after my kids had grown up, I began my degree in Arts and Humanities (Classical Studies and Creative Writing), gaining First-class Honours. Currently, I am undertaking an MA in Creative Writing, during which I completed a proofreading and editing course. Currently, I am about to launch my third novel.

My goal for this blog is to finally take my writing seriously, and if it goes somewhere, so much the better.
